Home Workout

Let's face it, we all have dreams of making it to the gym, joining classes and getting our workouts in regularly. But with busy schedules, it's not always that easy. Even if you have a gym membership or go to classes regularly, I still recommend having a few things at home to help you get in a great workout if you're short on time or can't get out of the house (sleeping babies come to mind ;)

Here are the basics that you can start with:

  • Skipping rope
  • Set of Weights (5-8lb dumbbells is good if you are starting off)
  • A weighted Medicine Ball ( 8-10 lbs)
  • Yoga Mat

With just these few things you can get in a total body workout in very little space. Also, don't forget about your own BODY! Bodyweight exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups and planks are great basic resistance moves that you can incorprate into any workout.

Try this quick "HIIT" (High Intensity Interval Training) Workout at home:

(Total time = 25 minutes)

Set your timer for 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds rest:

  • Skipping
  • Squat with Shoulder Press
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Medicine Ball Squat and Swing
  • Plank and Row

Do each exercise for the full 45 seconds, pausing 15 seconds before going to the next.

Complete a total of 5 rounds for a you can do at home in under half an hour with minimal equipment ;)
