How To Skip (Like A Boss)!

If you’ve ever watched a video of someone skipping and thought to yourself “There’s just no way I can do that”, well think again.  Jumping rope isn’t some magical talent that only certain people are just born with. It’s a skill, and (just like any other skill,) the more you do it, the better you’ll get. I’ve been skipping ever since I was a kid and it’s something I’ve always loved coming back to so I do have a fair bit of practice. At the same time though, I’ve also had clients who’ve never skipped before in their life, but once they learn the basics and practice a bit, they find their groove and soon they absolutely love doing it....

Core Strength

If you've ever spent time in the check-out line of a grocery store you've probably seen the words "Core Strength" screaming out at you in all-caps from any number of magazine covers.  But how many of us know really understand what our 'core' is or what exactly makes it so important in the first place?  You can think of your core as the link between your upper and your lower body.  It doesn't just include your abs but also the muscles on your sides (known as your obliques) and the back, and together these act as the body's main stabilizers.

Kettle Bell Workout

If you’re getting sick of the same workout with the same equipment, then this is the workout for you. Try switching your traditional dumbbells for some kettle bells! Why you ask? The kettlebell is a great way to build strength and work your core at the same time. Its uneven center-of-gravity forces your body to constantly adjust itself to maintain balance throughout the entire exercise.  It’s a great tool to help your body prepare for real life movements such as carrying your child or a suitcase. Also, its unique shape lets you carry momentum through exercises; think kettlebell swing.
