I get asked a lot about my favourite activities and products that I use with the kids and around the house. I've also discovered so many amazing books, people and products that others have shared with me, so I wanted to pass on some of my Favourites (yes, I'm Canadian and spell it with a "ou"!) and maybe learn about new ones from you guys as well!
Zoodles with avocado pesto and mustard salmonHave you tried zoodles yet?I’ve been making them quite a bit more recently. It’s a great alternative to pasta and can be done in a variety of different way;) Firstly, you can made zoodles (noodles made from zucchini) a few different ways. The most basic way is to use a good old peeler, just peel the zucchini into thin strips. There are also more fancy tools you can use like a spiralizer or hand held spiralizer (like the one I used).
We want the next generation to eat right, make wise choices, and develop a healthy love for food. There seems to be no better way to do this than to invite our kids into the kitchen with us from a young age. Similar to my approach with them when it comes to fitness (encouraging them to play, choose their own activities, and playing along with them), cooking with the kids can be a fun, interactive, and engaging activity. Not only does it teach them basic kitchen skills, they also learn about nutrition, creativity and even a little bit of math and science. Even more importantly, by allowing them to be involved in the food buying and preparation process, they begin...
